Reproduction Rotary Altatone Mute for Tenor Trombone
Reproduction Rotary Altatone Mute for Tenor Trombone
Vintage Reproduction - L.D. Streamline Rotary Altatone
I was sent a newspaper clipping of this and some other vintage mutes which I had never heard of. I did a search and could find nothing about them.
The mute features a rotary head which has 4 different sized holes. You select which size you want by turning the head and aligning the hole size (1 - 4) with the alignment arrow on the mute body. As you reduce the hole sizes, the mute sound remains consistent but the sound becomes more distant, rather than just softer.
Using only the hand drawn advertisement images and my own knowledge I have re-created this mute and it’s simply gorgeous to play.
If you’re wanting to re-produce authentic sounds off the early 1900’s or just want a really cool mute that’s different, this is a great mute to have in your bag. Ideal for recording.
This mute is available only in a special black carbon fiber composite in satin or textured finish. It’s light weight, feels nice in the hand and sounds beautiful.
